Copperhead is an open-source, verification-first AI agent for printed circuit board design, described by its authors as a Cursor for circuit boards. Point it at a KiCad repository and it edits real schematic and layout files, updates every document that references them, and runs KiCad's own ERC and DRC checks until they pass. Eight gated stages run from a written brief to gerbers, and nothing commits until the artifacts are on disk. The CLI is free and Apache-2.0; hosted cloud runs start at $49 per user per month.
